In 1976 the Commission on Archives and History  began providing families of deceased ministers with a bronze bas-relief plaque of a circuit rider with the inscription “United Methodist Clergy“ to place on the headstone or footstone of the deceased ministers’ graves.

Each district superintendent has these grave markers on hand and gives one to the family of each deceased minister serving in his/her district immediately upon the minister's death. In this way the manufacturer can imbed it along with engraving the gravestone.

If you would like to purchase a marker for a minister who died before 1976, please contact the Methodist Archives Center.
